Christmas Program DVDs
I attempted to upload the Christmas Program videos, but the files are too big. Couldn't do it!!! However, we were able to create DVDs, thanks to Ms. Brundidge's son. We plan to sell them for about $6 each. We will send out flyers hopefully on Dec. 15th. You will be able to purchase DVDs in the front office. Proceeds will go towards upcoming PTA events.
Pictures With Santa
Westview's PTA sponsored Pictures With Santa as a fundraiser for upcoming PTA functions. Thank you for your support.

WES Christmas Program Preparations
A hearty THANK YOU goes out to all of the teachers and parents who spent the majority of their Saturday working on the decorations for our Christmas Programs on the 12th and 13th. I wish I could have taken before and after pictures to show how much work it took to get everything ready. Stay tuned for pictures and videos of the programs.

Gold Award of Distinction
A representative from the USDA awarded 5 Phenix City elementary schools with a Gold Award of Distinction for serving healthier meals to students. Out of 100,000 schools across the country, only 2000 schools achieved this award. That equates to roughly 2% of all the schools in the United States. Westview is proud to be among that 2%. There was an awards ceremony held at the Phenix City Activity Center honoring the elementary schools in our school district. Alabama had the most schools receiving this award out of all 50 states.

K-2 Christmas Luncheon
Our K-2 Christmas Luncheon will be on December 8th. The regular lunch schedules should not be affected. Kindergarten classes start eating around 10:25am daily. Please remember not to park in No Parking zones. This creates the atmosphere for accidents!!!

Our Accelerated Reader (AR) billboard is located in the foyer of the main building. AR is a motivational reading program designed to encourage our youth to read. Students choose books on their grade levels to read and then take tests based on the main idea of the books. Students progress to various point levels and earn rewards along the way. The AR billboard displays the various point levels along with pictures of the students. At the end of last school year (2010-11) we gave away 7 bikes with the help of Continental Carbon. These top awards were given to the top 7 AR students at Westview. This year we will do something similar. In the meantime, checkout the billboard to see if your child is on the board and please encourage them to read at home!

STI Parent Portal
Parents can view grades, attendance, and more just by the click of a button using the STI Parent Portal. STI is the computer software company used by virtually all Alabama public schools. This software allows schools to manage students' grades, attendance, behavior, and print numerous reports. Parents also have access to this data but only certain parts that would be of parental benefit. You need your child's user name and password, in which I can easily provide for you. The link to the STI Parent Portal is listed at the bottom of this page under Important Links.
K-2 Christmas Luncheon
The K-2 Christmas Luncheon will be on December 8th. Parents' scheduled time to eat with the children will be at the same time each grade level eats lunch. Each visiting parent must have a signed form on file with the cafeteria staff to ensure an accurate count. Please be considerate of available parking. Do not block incoming traffic. Please do not park in No Parking zones, as this can create serious problems. Enjoy the meal and fellowship. The cost per meal is $5 for parents.
Pictures with Santa
WES students will be able to take pictures with Santa again this year. The pictures cost $4 each. Students will take pictures with Santa immediately after each of the two Christmas Programs on December 12th and 13th. There will not be a photography company involved. We will do everything in-house just like last year. The pictures will be developed at Walmart and bordered with a festive Christmas design. We will give the photos to the students before they leave for Christmas Break. The proceeds will go towards PTA activities.
WES Christmas Programs
Our Christmas program was split into two separate programs and moved to regular school hours to accommodate children who otherwise would not be able to participate. We were having a hard time getting permission forms back, causing many deserving students not to be able to participate. Moving the program to the regular school day created another problem: We don't have the space to accommodate such a large crowd with numerous parents and the whole school in the cafeteria at one time. Therefore, dividing the program made more sense. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences this may cause for some parents' work schedules. The program schedule will be as follows:
K-2 Christmas Program on December 12th
3-5 Christmas Program on December 13th
Both programs will begin around 8:45am in the cafeteria.
K-2 Christmas Program on December 12th
3-5 Christmas Program on December 13th
Both programs will begin around 8:45am in the cafeteria.

Home of The Tigers
The Westview Elementary mascot is the tiger, one of the most fiercest animals on the planet. It is widely known for its size, stealth-like hunting ability, fearless tenacity, and distinctive colors and design. The tiger is bold, intelligent, and very audacious. At Westview, our teachers and support staff are committed to educating every student to his or her fullest potential. Like the tiger, we focus fearlessly on our challenges and seek to accomplish our set goals on a daily basis. Student achievement is our number one priority, while continuous improvement is our attitude. At Westview, we're on the prowl for excellence!
